This week, two records were shattered in Jefferson County high school basketball. The JCAA Small Schools conference saw two ladies add their names to the record books; one for a single game performance and one spanning a career.
Last night, Herculaneum Power-Forward Paige Fowler had a game to remember for the Blackcats. Fowler netted 45 points in a 73-52 victory over Orchard Farm at the Lutheran South Tournament. Paige’s 45 points eclipsed the previous single-game scoring record set by Cailey Metcalf, who scored 36.
Fowler is a senior this year and has visited several local colleges and universities during the recruiting process. She definitely has the talent and skill set to play at the collegiate level. When she makes her decision on where to play next year, we will be amongst the first to let you know!
Monday evening, Jefferson Blue Jays Post player Catryn Cattoor quietly broke the school’s career record for rebounds. The humble and unassuming Cattoor has been the Rock of Gibraltar in the paint for all 4 years at Jefferson. As of Monday evening, the senior had amassed 423 rebounds to break the record of 417 set by Hannah Floyd. Known for her skills on the softball diamond, Catryn has played an integral role on the Lady Jays basketball team with her strength and intelligence on the floor. With plenty of games remining in the season, Cattoor will set the bar for career rebounds ever higher.
Catryn Cattoor will be attending Washington University in St. Louis next year on a softball scholarship and will major in Engineering.
Congratulations to two great young ladies!
