As a native San Diegan I enjoy covering my hometown minor league sports scene on my YouTube Channel Timeout with Tito (TwT). So, when one of the teams I have been closely following, the Chula Vista Suns an American Basketball Association team, made it to this year’s championship tournament in St. Louis April 13th – 15th2023, I jumped at the opportunity to cover them outside of my hometown.

What I found in St. Louis was an exciting sports city able to offer any sports fan more than their fill of varied major and minor league sports events.

First let me thank the owners Eric Brown and JaMoneeSharp Jones for the invite and support helping me cover their team. Congratulations to The Suns for their successful season of 16-3 and being crowned 2022-2023 Pacific South Region Champions.

The TwT team touch downed STL St. Louis and was embraced by the town. Before we knew it, it was dinner time, we went to Bailey’s Range burgers, great shakes! We talked to staff about my YouTube channel. It was here we decided to go to The Blues last home game vs Dallas Stars. The NHL arena was huge and filled with fans screaming and cheering it was exciting and contagious. The Blues lost, final score 5-2 Stars.

In the morning, TwT covered game #1 ABA Championship tournament at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, MO. Suns vs Providence Rhode Island Pirates. An exciting game the team played great, final score 101-92 Suns. I met and interviewed Paris Collins (Tx Seraphim) and it was an honor to meet and interview the commissioner of the ABA Joe Newman and his family. Thank you, Matt Bates and Ray Halbrook for interviewing me on your Live Stream.

After the win, TwT discovered what St. Louis is also famous for, food. We went to Gene’s Bar and Grill the food was amazing. Scooby, the cook, gave us his homemade sauces, so delicious on the big and juicy chicken wings. With our stomachs full, we went to the Cardinals vs Pirates game with Sharp and Jay Norton (Suns). We sat at field level, nice stadium, good price and sporting our Padres gear. It was a good night even with the loss 5-0.

Game #2 of the ABA Tournament Suns vs Burning River Buckets (BRB). Where I was able to warmup and sit on the bench with the team. Suns played hard and with heart, a close game, final score 103-99 BRB. Though they were upset, there were talks of next year’s return to the tournament. The team played great and should be proud of the Pacific South Region Champions title, I am.

Next morning, TwT continued sightseeing downtown, we went to CityPark where the St. Louis City SC MLS team play. There was a game that night, but no available tickets, it was ok because it poured rain that night.

We went to the Dome at America’s Center where the XFL team the Battlehawks play. This was our first XFL game so we were very excited. “Holy cow it was so loud and the fans were amazing!” They welcomed us, I added subscribers and took pictures with fans. I appeared on the jumbotron with fans Enoch Flow AKA “Battlehawk1” and Gary Fisher and on XFL ESPN!

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson did an amazing job bringing the XFL here, maybe San Diego needs to get a XFL team. It was an awesome time!

On our last day we went to the Archway, by far my favorite landmark.  Going up 630ft in the arch, you will behold an amazing view of the city.

St. Louis is a great city and should be on every sports fan’s short list of places to go.

Despite losses, crazy weather and tornado warnings, we had a great time. TwT met and talked to nice people, fans, ate great food and loved sightseeing. We were so happy we stayed a week; we will definitely return.
